Associated Initatives

The EGSA is always working to help create the best experience for the graduate students in the Faculty of the Environment.  We work with different committees, groups, clubs and associations to gather feedback from students and faculty to identify where things are working and how to continue to improve the University of Waterloo graduate experience socially and academically.

The University of Waterloo Association of Graduate Planners
The University of Waterloo Association of Graduate Planners (AGP) represents the graduate students in the School of Planning at the University of Waterloo.  The EGSA often works with the AGP for joint social events to get all ENV graduate students out having a good time.

The Civil and Environmental Engineering Graduate Student Association
The Civil and Environmental Engineering Graduate Student Association (CE2GA) represents the graduate students in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE).  They are represnet members of SWIGS, along with the EGSA and ESGA.

The Earth Sciences Graduate Association
The Earth Sciences Graduate Association represents graduate students in the Earth Sciences faculty.  They organize socials and academic events.  We work with them mostly through SWIGS, along with the CE2GA.

The Environment Student’s Society
The Environment Student’s Society (ESS) represents undergraduate students in the Faculty of the Environment.  ESS has a number of mandates, including keeping students informed, ensure a positive academic experience and providing social events. They also run the ES Coffee Shop on the ground floor of EV1-138.

The Student Teaching Excellence Committee (STEC)
The Student Teaching Excellence Committee (STEC) started in the fall of 2012 as a collaborative effort with the Faculty of Environments Teaching and Learning Committee to gain insight into the graduate student’s ideas, concerns and positive experiences at the University of Waterloo. Students of the Water Institute Graduate Section
Students of the Water Institute Graduate Section is a subsection of the Water Institute here at the University of Waterloo. SWIGS focuses on inter-disciplinary collaboration and membership is open to all University of Waterloo Graduate students with an interest in water-related issues.  Working to create an environment where all SWIGS members can freely share ideas and experiences, SWIGS fosters education and teamwork between those with water-related studies. As part of this goal, SWIGS organizes a diversity of monthly water-related events, ranging from webinars, professional and student lectures, guest lectures, seminars, workshops, research fairs, networking sessions, as well as many social events such Blue Jays games, BBQ’s and monthly ‘blue drinks’, where you can go to the Grad House and enjoy a drink with other students, professionals, and practitioners in the water community! The WLU Graduate Geographers Association (GGA)
The EGSA represents the University of Waterloo Students in the GEM Joint Program, which includes students from Wilfrid Laurier University students. The Graduate Geographers Association (GGA) represents all graduate student in the Geography and Environmental Studies program at Wilfrid Laurier University.  The EGSA and GGA work together to help strengthen the experience for graduate students taking part in the largest geography program in Canada.
